Scott Sanders

I intend to represent District 23 with dedication and integrity

Meet Scott
I’m not an experienced politician; I don’t have a fancy website or fancy photos or many of the things that you usually see on these campaign websites. I'm someone who cares enough about our community to run for something and I’m asking you for your vote. If I am asking you for that, I should tell you about me and why I think I am worth your trust.

I've worked in the technology industry for most my life. For many years I was a consultant who solved complex tech problems for big companies. After that I took a break to run my own company then finally moved here to Atlanta and joined my current employer of the last 10+ years.

Six years ago my wife Ashley and I decided to leave downtown Atlanta to find another home for our growing family. We already had a young daughter and Ashley was pregnant again. We cared about schools and quality of education and wanted open spaces and a caring community for our family. We found a home and area we loved in Cherokee County and despite our initial concerns about the long commute to work in Atlanta, I very quickly learned to appreciate the final stretches of my drive home on the slow roads between farms. Those quiet roads helped me to relax and put my day at work behind me and I still look forward to that drive home. Now our daughter is 7, our son is 6, and despite the constant construction and widening of Highway 20, I don’t regret our decision to move up here for a second. My love for Cherokee County and the people who live here has only grown.
Why am I doing this and why should you vote for me?
I promise to use common sense and not blindly follow an agenda. I promise to do everything I can to promote education, schools, and teachers. This is a major passion of mine. My brother has been a teacher for decades, I married a teacher, my father was a teacher for a short period and I am a constant presence and volunteer at my daughter’s school. I promise to do everything I can to keep those farms and back roads I love to drive through from being overly built out and filled with cookie cutter developments. I promise to do everything I can to fund and build up the vital services of our community such as the first responders, public safety officers, and libraries, bus services, etc. to try and ensure everyone is safe, has a place to go and a way to get there.  Sometimes we’re going to disagree on taxes or maybe we are going to disagree on medical decisions; I absolutely acknowledge and expect and RESPECT that. I’m asking for your vote on behalf of the things I hope we agree on – education is important, preserving our community is important, and vital services are important.
Common Sense
Common Sense
I have great friends who are proud Republicans and our families regularly hang out together. I have great friends who are Independents and Libertarians that were at our wedding and formed their own new bonds. I have great friends who are Democrats that I still challenge on some of their positions. Politics are ideas and beliefs; however I believe people can transcend their politics and there is a way to work together and still just be people. Some ideas win, some ideas lose, but we can still trust each other and take care of each other and do what we believe is right for everyone. One thing all my friends have in common is that they are people of their word, people of their faith and we always help each other out whenever help is needed. I want to bring that same willingness to help and do good to this district.
