Meet Scott
I’m not a career politician; I don’t have a fancy website or fancy photos or many of the things that you usually see on these campaign websites. I'm someone who cares enough about our District and our State to run and I’m asking you for your vote. If I am asking you for that, I should tell you about me, what impact I think I can have and why I believe I am worth your trust.

I've worked as a consultant or leader in the technology profession for most my life. For nearly three decades I have helped Fortune 100 companies plan and deliver complex strategic technology initiatives. This requires the ability to get a large number of people with conflicting interests and opinions to work together towards a common goal. I’m good at doing that. I enjoy the process of building consensus and delivering successful solutions. I’ve made a career out of it. I want to bring those skills and that passion to our State Legislature to push for positive change for you and the entire state of Georgia.
Why am I doing this and why should you vote for me?
I promise to use common sense and not blindly follow an agenda. I promise to do everything I can to promote education, schools, and teachers. This is a major passion of mine. My brother has been a teacher for decades, I married a teacher, my father was a teacher for a short period and I am a constant presence and volunteer at my daughter’s school. Growing up with a severe hearing loss, I consider Special Education services critical and will be working from Day 1 to push for more Special Education services and resources in Georgia to replace the loss of federal support.

I believe everyone should have access to good, affordable healthcare and insurance and there is a way to make that happen within the State of Georgia.

I want to fund and build up the vital services of our communities such as the first responders, public safety officers, libraries, bus services, etc. to try and ensure everyone is safe, has a place to go and a way to get there.

Sometimes we’re going to disagree on taxes or maybe we are going to disagree on medical decisions; I absolutely acknowledge and expect and RESPECT that. I’m asking for your vote on behalf of the things I hope we agree on – education is important, strengthening our community is important, and vital services are important. I believe achieving solutions that improve all of those critical things is more important than how we get there.

Education

Education is my top priority. I want to increase funding to schools and increase pay and resources for teachers, and review restrictions on curriculum. It's too easy to cut education budgets because the effects are not felt until 5-10 years down the road and those who voted for the cuts can no longer be held responsible. For the same reason, it is an uphill battle to increase education funding and resources because the benefits grow over time and the results are not immediately apparent. I want Georgia to have the best schools and teachers in the country. I want Georgia students to be at the top of every National benchmark. I want to make us a model for what education can be and this takes a long term view and dedication to achieve.

Healthcare & Affordability

Healthcare costs and coverage have spiraled out of control. I want to pursue any option that can quickly provide or subsidize health insurance for Georgians facing soaring premium increases. I want to pursue any option that will assist Georgians in affording comprehensive healthcare coverage and allow them to select their providers. For the last couple of years, prices for basic goods and services have also shot up. I want to pursue any option that will assist all Georgians to be able afford critical things like food, utilities, and housing. Both of these are immediate and crippling needs and will be my focus from my first day in office.

Public Services & Infrastructure

I want to fund and continue to build out public services and infrastructure. First responders are heroes and the backbone of our communities. I want to make sure they have the resources they need to keep us safe, protect our homes, and respond to emergencies. I want to increase funding for other areas such as healthcare resources and civic services like libraries and parks and community centers. This builds a stronger community, lifts up the people of Georgia and helps ensure that everyone is safe, has enough to eat, has a place to go and a way to get there.

Common Sense
Common Sense
I have great friends who are proud Republicans and our families regularly hang out together. I have great friends who are Independents and Libertarians that were at our wedding and formed their own new bonds. I have great friends who are Democrats that I still challenge on some of their positions. Politics are ideas and beliefs; however I believe people can transcend their politics and there is a way to work together and still just be people. Some ideas win, some ideas lose, but we can still trust each other and take care of each other and do what we believe is right for everyone. One thing all my friends have in common is that they are people of their word, people of their faith and we always help each other out whenever help is needed. I want to bring that same willingness and passion to this district and the people of Georgia.
